Second qualifying session disrupted by heavy rain
-
No change in positions since Wednesday night’s first qualifying session – Porsche still on provisional pole position with G-Drive Racing, Ford Chip Ganassi Racing and Clearwater Ferrari leading LMP2, LMGTE Pro and LMGTE Am classes.
-
The traffic light at the end of the pit lane turned green at 19h00 this evening but only 30 minutes of the 2-hour session had elapsed before heavy rain hit the 13.6km Circuit de la Sarthe. A large number of teams chose not to complete many laps in these conditions in order to protect their cars and drivers, many competitors having already installed race engines and gearboxes.
-
Once the worst of the rain had stopped, and with more temperamental weather due on Saturday, teams opted to work on their wet-weather set up and test the limits of the rain tyres.

Third and final qualifying session due to take place between 22h00 and midnight after which time the grid for the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2016 will be known.
